“Those that truly love, have roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree not two.” – Louis de Bernières
Last weekend Lilly and I got to photograph a wedding day at one of my favorite venues, Harmony Hall Estate. The beautifully restored farmhouse with loads of white walls and huge windows. The gorgeous outdoor ceremony space where the couple stands at the top of a rock formation as water flows down from it. The super cool stone foundation that still remains from the original barn. Pair all of that beauty with a super sweet couple and you’ve got a match made in Heaven.
The first time I photographed Dana and Mike was last fall when I traveled to their hometown of Baltimore and we explored Inner Harbor together. And before we knew it June had rolled around and it was wedding time! The details of Dana’s Stella York wedding gown paired with her pastel blue heels and a veil also worn by her mother and grandmother on their wedding days made for absolute perfection. It’s easy to see why the men closest to Dana (scroll down to see what I mean!) kept getting choked up when seeing her for the first time.
Their ceremony was lead by one of our favorites, Reverend Reenie Panzini, who lead the most touching ceremony that included the above quote that is now one of my favorites. Later on in the day, Dana and Mike shared their first dance as husband and wife to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect. The words of this song ring so true for the couple as they met when they were 15. “…Well I found a girl beautiful and sweet, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me, ‘Cause we were just kids when we fell in love…”. And as the night went on, Klock Entertainment did a fantastic job keeping everyone on the dance floor. From parent dances to Tom Petty’s Wild Flowers and Phil Collins You’ll be in my heart (cue the tears!) to everyone pulling out their best dance moves for Imagine Dragon’s Thunder and Lightning.
It was a perfect day and we could not be more honored to have been there to capture it all. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Denchy!
