“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” – Thornton Wilder
Last Saturday’s wedding was a sweet reminder that we should always be aware of our treasures. Melissa and Dave embraced the rainy weather and were simply happy to be married and celebrating with their closest friends and family. From the adorable church to dancing the night away at the Hollywood Casino, their smiles never faded. Their laughter was infectious and seeing these two families come together as one was heartwarming. During the ceremony, Melissa knelt down to Dave’s youngest son, Aaron, and vowed herself to him, as well. Whew! There was not a dry eye in the church – ours included!
I had the pleasure of reuniting with Juke Box Hits that evening who DJ’d Ryan and I’s wedding almost ten years ago. We reminisced back to that day, caught up on the present, and gushed about our kiddos in between dinner and dances. Throughout the night the bridal party entertained us with their classic moves on the dance floor (sprinkler anyone?), while others jumped into the photobooth for a good laugh. One of them most touching moments of the night came from the anniversary dance in which we discovered the couple who has been married the longest; a dear, sweet husband and wife who jokingly shared their secret to success, “Happy wife, happy life.”
Overall, the day was a beautiful one no matter what mother nature was throwing at us. Thank you, Melissa and Dave, for allowing us to join you on your wedding day! We are overjoyed for you both and can’t wait to see where the journey of marriage takes you!
